U2 was in Seattle a few weekends back. Fortunately, they allow small cameras in the venue. After an all-day wait in the Qwest Field parking lot on what seemed like the sunniest day Seattle has ever known, a quick run to the field led to entrance to the inner sanctum right in front of the stage. Definitely a great show.

Things have been busy over at my “day job” at Vecta Photo, where partner Tony Blazejack and I have had our hands full working on getting things rolling there. Our Georgetown Studio is coming along nicely.

One of the best parts of having a studio in Georgetown is being able to participate in the monthly Art Attack! art walk which happens on the second Saturday of every month.

This past Saturday I featured a few of my photographs from the days of yore back when I lived in Japan.

All proceeds from the sale go to the Red Cross to aid the victims of the Japan earthquake.

It’s an annual pilgrimage for me… a trip to Tsubaki Grand Shrine in Granite Falls, WA. When I moved to Seattle a little over a year ago, I was heartened to find there was a Shinto shrine less than an hour away from the city. New Years without Hatsumode just wouldn’t be the same.

As I was leaving the shrine, I noticed the couple shown above, and made a quick photo as they passed.

I like photographing things reflected in windows… weird things usually result. Twisted, psychedelic things. Like this brick wall seen on a walk through Pioneer Square in downtown Seattle.

Word on the street is that Santa is coming to town, and he’s not taking any prisoners. But that’s okay, because we’re all holly and jolly, and the time is now to get stimulating with our economy. Despite what “they” might have you believe, it’s really what makes the world go ’round.

But I digress…

It’s time for the mobs at the mall, so I took my G11 out for a ride the other day to downtown Seattle to see the action of the buying populace in full swing.

Large mobs tend to frazzle me, and at that point the only solution is to go into full-bore abstraction mode. The urban and the modern tend to take on an even more bizarre look.

Things got pretty real pretty quick here in Seattle in the last few days. Snow fell, and then the ice came around, and basically people lost their minds.

It was fun going out into the 20-something-degree tundra and shooting photos. The Vecta Photo stock archive came out the real winner, though…
